Meet Amanda Sparr & Heather Murphy a.k.a. Styled by the Sisters

We are Dallas-based sisters, stylists and closet consultants who have been in the fashion industry for over 25 years. Growing up, we were daughters of a single mom and weren’t able to buy “it bags” or designer shoes. We often compared ourselves to others and would borrow items from our older sister’s closet so that we could try to fit in instead of stand out.

As teens, we both started working in retail (Amanda first since we are a few years apart). This is when our love for styling took root, and for the first time, fashion became fun for us. After college, we continued working in the industry at some of the finest stores in the country, including Stanley Korshak, where we’ve been for 15 years.

Closet consultations entered the picture several years ago when we realized we wanted to do more than simply help women buy smart in a retail environment. We wanted to get to know our customers, understand their styling needs and what gaps they had in their wardrobe. Does she actually need another pair of black pants? Does she still wear all five of these white button downs?

We believe fashion is a tool that helps build confidence, and it has been a blessing to help women choose items that accentuate their assets and love who they see when they look in the mirror. While we do love a fabulous “it bag,” we love finding great “it bag” alternatives, too. Quality is always best but not a must.

When it comes down to it, the real truth is that beauty comes from the inside out, and you are a woman who is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).
